Mayor of West Yorkshire's reaction to the King's Speech

Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin said:

“I am on a mission to grow our economy in West Yorkshire so I'm delighted to see this government taking the brakes off Britain to give us the tools we need to deliver.

“I welcome the King’s speech intention to go faster and further on devolution, giving more power to local leaders. Devolution is working through better skills, more affordable housing, tackling the climate emergency and creating a better-connected region.

“We will work in lockstep with this government to ensure the English Devolution Bill moves power from central government into communities - it’s a good time for English regions and we will step up to deliver the change that West Yorkshire and Britain deserves."
